to people who use neopronouns and don't exclusively speak english: how do you deal with neopronouns in your other language(s)? do you translate them? do you adapt them to the grammar? or do you just use them the same as in english?

idk if that made any sense. i was making a pronouns page and started making a dutch one and then i realised that i had no idea how to translate it/its. and then idk what to do with any of the neopronouns i like. irl i only use he/him but ive been feeling more open to trying more pronouns again, at least in online spaces

hmmm yeah that's a tough one, it/its doesn't translate well in Dutch. From personal experience, the best (neutral) alternative pronouns in dutch are die/diens or hen/hun, where die/diens seems to be more accepted since it can be used easier for singular, whereas hen/hun is linguistically mainly plural. They're not as widely used in Dutch as they/them in English but fulfill the same purpose, i think

just-a-husk > yeah, most people i know who use they/them translate it as die/hen/hun/hun/henzelf but the trouble with that is that in proper dutch it's neutral but in my dialect its masculine TvT but that's another issue lol. i don't think im gonna be using it/its or neopronouns in my day-to-day life anytime soon ayways but idk i was wondering. i haven't met anyone irl who uses it/its or neos so i cant really compare

I use only one set of pronouns (masc) in my native language, and any/all in english. It doesn't really bother me, even though I prefer neutral, but it's far more difficult to find people willing to use neutral pronouns instead of the usual binary in real life. So I guess I don't use neopronouns in my other languages at all.
