i think a few people unfollowed me on here... i've been struggling to find the time and ideas to implement to the site for the last couple weeks but..ouch

I've thought that before too, but I think it's usually just people deleting their site.
it could also be people hiding their neocities profile.

jokes aside: don't let the numbers affect you. write down why you started your site in the first place and remember your purpose.
i noticed that too. but not all are just unfollowing. i had two who deleted their accounts and one who changed his privacy to hide the profile so you land on their site instead of profile.
unfollows happen, it's just ppl curating their life. i use ublock origin to hide my follow count most of the time 😅 if someone lost interest in u so fast cos u lacked an update or something then um ok bye ! just my philosophy <3 your website is so good btw i was just admiring it yesterday!!

reiterating what others have said, but long term i think it's much healthier to disregard follower/view counts and focus on doing your own thing. do whatever you want to do rather than what attracts the most attention. naturally, people who enjoy what u're sharing will want to follow along and see what you have to share
