I'm a little frustrated with the state of online communication lately; considering how to make my website more flexible so it can accomodate interactions with other netizens. Ideas welcome.

i think https://atproto.com/ is a really cool project. i'm sort of envisioning netizens putting records into a PDS and your personal website can render its own messaging board. this way someone can communicate/send message/share something on your website and it will automatically be synced on some one else's page who wants to render this data. everything would be decentralized and interoperable.

I think my main issue is that ATproto is very computationally expensive; in a way what i want already exists and it's called the webmention system, but it's also just really hard to build a community around isolated linking back and forth
