I doing know how specific you want this filter to be, or how feasible it would be, but maybe nonfiction, original fiction, fan fiction, poetry, and general writing. Then filter it down further by tropical that make up most of the site, like specific fandoms, Mary-Sure articles, articles about the craft of writing, or genres (romance, Western, etc.).

One thing that may not have already been mentioned are sites dedicated to certain beliefs or practices (Christianity, wicca, Islam, Hinduism, paganism, Buddhism, etc.) or research into metaphysical or occult topics.

Repeating my previous comment: accessibility, specifically flashing lights and readable text (dark text on a light background or vise versa)
whoops sorry, i forgot to reply to your comment! i'm gonna reply in the comments of the tutorial page ! :)

I can only think of the word pink or cute ;p i thrive on those kinds of aesthetics but i personally like an *all-salad* and take a peek at all sort of websites.

mostly i'd filter by theme/aesthetic like retro, pixel art, OS themed websites... and by content like hobbies, art, programming, music.... for me those would be the most useful

idk if anyone else would want this, but would a directory of webrings also be on the table? i browse those a lot and it feels kind of weird to ask you to include tags that are just webring things ahaha. i think others have mentioned most stuff i'd want- maybe whether there's a social (non cbox/guestbook) aspect, like forums, or oekakis?

it has to be sr. pelo, blogs, art, writing, music, LGTBQA+ terms (it’s june), sr. pelo again, spooky, spooky month, christmas, etc etc. I’d love the shitpost tag tho, I love me a good shitpost
@trashville i actually already have a list of webrings! they really only have categories though https://petrapixel.yorniq.xyz/coding/webring-list

sites that include a toybox/pixel art adoptables, pages about pets and/or gardening, OC's/worldbuilding, collections, and hobbies (all the things i could think of off the top of my head lol) would be neat to see in the keywords/organization system!

If this Theoretical filter existed I would prolly scroll through anything with original stories/characters, art decorative site themes in general, computer programming, and any sort of creative works at all ! I would also be so happy to see other eng&esp people of the web 😁

Maybe difficult to categorise, but I'd like to filter based on "image-heavy" vs "text-heavy."
I made a new widget!! https://petrapixel.yorniq.xyz/coding/widgets#widget Please be proud of me, I did this with 0 motivation while bored out of my mind

You're so awesome for taking the time to share your knowledge by making these wonderful tutorials! Thanks for putting the effort in to help newbies like myself!!
here's stuff i have gotten hate comments for: being polyamorous, liking fictional gore, sharing my hogwarts house, venting on my own personal blog, linking to my youtube channel, sharing my experience with sexism, and the list goes on.
the audacity some people have to think that i will change my website because they personally do not enjoy a part of it is absolutely insane and i know there's a lot of kids on neocities that probably don't know better but i don't have the patience for this stuff anymore .
now to end this on a positive note, look at me and my partner at pride! <3 https://piclog.blue/image.php?id=8658
also, for those who don't know, neocities has a block feature (go to somebody's profile, the "block user" link is right beneath their website's tags in the right sidebar). use it instead of sending hate.
Oh no
well said.
Why are people like this tho...
being polyamorous is really cool, dont let the haters get you down
people love to comment on polyamory like its ANY of their business LMAO...
tell em!
real asf
people will always find something to complain about!! its so annoying... im so sorry you had to go through this
Well said.
I feel like having our own sites is our way to share and express ourselves; it should feel like a haven, not a place where we have to worry about hate. Plus, I love seeing blogs that are different from mine! Who wants to see the same old thing on every page? Being different from others is awesome! Makes the world much more interesting.
As much as it sucks that you need to say this, yeah, tell 'em!!
Maybe the issue is that people who aren't familiar with how the web used to be expect every personal website to be just as curated, blended to default slop and sterilised as major social media platforms
@crota-gurdy absolutely, it's the twitter-ification of the web
