definitely sounds like an image to ascii art converter was used, i know @hsquare did this recently

yeah... it's just vaguely annoying me because i cant get ascii to scale properly (it's so screen-dependant, even the slightest ratio change renders it unreadable) and i recall they'd managed it somehow which is why i thought it was a different way. hm. i guess the humble png has never steered me wrong so far

Thank you for the comment and the follow! I will slightly disagree on the "this is what web design should be" part though. I know you meant it as a compliment but the absolutely fun thing about the indie web is that everyone's definition of web design is completely different and that is, to me, beautiful.

From what I can tell, age ratings happened out of a callback to the aesthetic of having an age rating icon appear in the corner of a TV program or a game's box art. That's fine, I just hope no one forces me to do it because it seems unnecessary otherwise. Much like content warnings, it can also spoil what a creation is. Marking something as NSFW is the only rating that seems practical

On that same thought- I understand some people need content warnings anyway. I just wish others would note down warnings or assign ratings in a public database or through a browser extension, instead of making the creator stick it on their site. I value the "I have no idea what I'm getting into" factor on my site a lot

can't truly control who goes on my site, so stuff like "18+ only" warnings are more for deflecting accountability for pain that could ensue when kids do inevitably go through it. as tabf5 said, I do think warnings are part of the form/delivery of the content itself so it shouldn't be imposed on everything unless the owner decides otherwise.

mm, i agree with your point on accountability, heart. I also think warnings shouldn't really matter- I personally note my works are by and for adults, but I don't care if kids view it because A) i'm not their dad, and B) consuming different kinds of media is good for your mind. like "adult" books - if a kid wants to read Dickens, Clancy, or King, it's fine. who give a shit.
