Hey, I respect you as a creative but that "joke" thing about the flashing was... Real bad. You doing ok? *edit* ...People with epilepsy aren't children, but ok, you have fun.

You need to fire some gunshots to keep the rent low sometimes. I'll probably remove it when I have access to a PC. Too many overgrown kids on Neocities.

Any particular reason this page is a flashbang on loop? @.@

Someone complained that the buttons on the page may affect those with photosensitive epilepsy, which is really not how it works, so I decided to add a trigger warning in the form of the background flashing intensively so you die before you reach the buttons.

well that certainly isn't a constructive way to take a genuine concern over. i know this is slightly hyperbolic but photosensitive epilepsy really isn''t something to play about, that shit kills people, there's a reason things come with warnings about it. also, you doing THIS instead of, for example, a toggle that starts/stops gif autoplay, comes off as very rude in general.

hope you find the kindness in your heart to do literally anything but this, because not only that, it makes it obnoxious as fuck for EVERYONE to use. you've rendered the whole thing practically worthless because you'd rather be petty. great job! really awesome

@capstasher The page flashing might've burned my crops, destroyed my village and killed my family, but nonetheless I find your explanation thoroughly hilarious. Can confirm I died before reaching the buttons. I'm writing this from the Pearly Gates. (St. Peter's been squinting at my ID for a long time. Probably should've got that renewed before I passed).

@feelingmachine It's not genuine concern. Genuine concern is informed concern. It takes less than a minute to find out the frequency, field of view coverage, and contrast needed to trigger photosensitive epilepsy. Anyone who is more sensitive than that knows they have to be careful when they browse the Internet and have tools designed to browse it safely. Do not give me this faux concern.

@someotherstranger we can reimburse up to 20% the market value of lost crops. As for the Heaven situation, I know a guy who can get you in. When you reach the door ask for Jesus and He'll say you're with Him.

Ah, seems like I missed dying. Who here is old enough to remember when that Pokemon episode aired? Even though that one didn't air in my country, mothers were terribly afraid of their kids watching Pokemon.

hey - thx for the 88x31 archive its really helpful. i was wondering if you could either put a warnin at the top of the archive about flashing/strobing lights or maybe quarantine the ones that strobe really bad on their own page? some of these buttons could be dangerous for someone with photosensitive epilepsy or migraine.

A day late, but man, it's been 4 years of running this website. That's a whole degree's worth! Cooking up something good to celebrate the anniversary. Whether you've been a follower of capstasher's Corner since the beginning, or you've just started following me, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Here's to many more years of csC!

I have explored around the web a fair bit in the past week and I have come to the conclusion that Otaku magazines are surprisingly poorly documented. There are hardly any scans of the big ones, like Newtype USA or Animerica, let alone any of the smaller ones Chibi Pop, Manga Max or the English language Manga Mania. V.Max is surprisingly well documented.

But yeah, while with Fortean Times I can have a gallery of all the issues' covers, it won't be as easy to do that for these. Plus, it's not just one, there is an unknown number of publications, each with an unknown number of issues to them. It's all very poorly documented. Wikipedia has a list, but it's both incomplete and inaccurate.

Regardless, this tells me there is a severe need for someone to actually go through and document these, make scans, and archive them in a public manner, before the last of these issues rot in someone's storage, or are thrown in a landfill for being, you know, old magazines. I have already published the ISO of one of my Newtype USA DVDs (it took a whole day, incredibly painful experience)

My biggest issue with scanning is that unless you are willing to sink hundreds to thousands of pounds into equipment, you're pretty much forced to destroy your copies to get good scans. You have to use a guillotine to slice off the spines of bound magazines, and then scan the pages individually. I uhhh refuse to do this. You will never catch me destroying them to get good scans.

I will likely figure something out, eventually, but it will be very time consuming.

I once bought the cheapest CZUR model as it was coming out, only to find out I wasted loads of money on what was essentially a shitty camera on a stand. Could try to use that, could try to use my proper camera, could try the office flatbed scanner I have. We'll figure it out. Archival scanning, like anything else involving optics, suffers from extreme prices. We will fix this when we win.

I should give my collection of otaku magazines the same treatment as the Fortean Times ones... But there are multiple publishers, so I might have to track each of them independently? Maybe I should go the route of my computer zines page? I should also scan them if no scans are available and rip the ISOs of the Newtype DVDs. Many things to consider...

To celebrate, teach an Irishman about fire or fishing today.

I can't believe I missed craic day... Although, in my defense, you failed to teach me about fishing or fire. I'm still cold and starving here.

@literaturegirl It would upset the ecosystem of Ireland if one of you knew about this. Your ancestors endured harsh winters, you will also survive.
