people on pinterest are SO RUDE omg. i really hope i never come across my site being posted there, because why are people so entitled and think it’s justifiable stealing someone’s work just because “they posted it on-line”? you see a cute post there and the comments are always filled with discussions about basic human decency…
although i would never oppose to anyone using me as inspiration (i feel very honored when someone does ♡), i also understand that people have different boundaries regarding their creations and it’s really not that hard to be respectful. i really wish people would learn how to be kinder :p
anyway, this is just a vent about how tiring it is to be a blog owner nowadays and how gaining traction on neocities can be both a blessing and a curse at the same time (⸝⸝๑﹏๑⸝⸝) also, just a reminder: being kind & respectful won’t cost you anything!
I completely agree with you. Especially when it comes to art! People just repost art of others and think everything's ok as long as you put "credit to the artist" on the title like what am I supposed to do with that information??? What artist??? And sometimes they don't even bother because apparently "if it's on the internet it's free for taking" This reminds I need to finish my credits page as well ((T_T))
I saw something like that before on pinterest, and the comments were like ( that’s the point of the art being here! so we can use it ) they should respect creators boundaries! i’m sorry you had to deal with this :(
@fries-and-ice-cream omg YES!!! this is another topic that fills me with rage. i always feel so bad seeing people reposting art that 1. doesn’t belong to them and then 2. putting a generic caption saying “credits to the owner” without ever crediting the ACTUAL owner!!! the *bare minimum* should be checking if the artist is comfortable with people using their work and making sure to credit them properly :(
@lunabelle what i saw was a blog that i used to follow here and all the comments were just as disrespectful, saying that the creator doesn’t have any right to be uncomfortable with people stealing their code…? i believe they ended up giving up on their blog and this is really so sad :( and don’t even get me started with people being mean to us through anon messages!!! it’s so tiring and infuriating
Omg, that’s awful:( i feel sorry for the owner of the blog, i don’t understand why they think the creator doesn’t have the right to feel uncomfortable or setting boundaries (?) and the anon thingy i completely understand your feeling but keep in mind ppl like that are probably having their own issues so don’t let that affecting you <3
Oh dear im sorry to hear :c, some people that i know of did get their art stolen on occasions from there aswell. Pinterest is a very very messy jungle...
I occasionally find cool art I would love to put in the featured art section of my page (which updates monthly) on pinterest, but if I can't find the original artist via google image search, I just pick something else- I mean. The whole reason I do it is to share cool art made by real humans with the hopes of promoting them
