everyone please admire how I cleanly re-factored the previously separate showcase / portfolio page into simply a section within my site's core, main "den" page

apparently this relatively small re-factor broke like 1/4th of the rest of the site's code, so I spent the morning and lunch fixing everything the showcase section re-factor and addition broke :)
