It's kind of a chain effect. Someone followed you and commented that they like your site, which then shows up for everyone who follows that person. They go, "well I match with this person's taste, let me check it out." Then they like it and the cycle continues. This happens when what you're doing kicks ass, which it does.

What @diremptiness said. I worry a lot about how I'd like to design elements of my website and if they'd be too plain, but your site reminds me that there's beauty in simplicity (and that there's a right way to do it).
