@daliwali - While it isn't from Iran, one of the few other modern religions that I can think of that is extensively syncretic like Manichaeism is Cao Dai.

i saw NGE as a kid and it scarred me for life. also the fact that the United Nations is a front for SEELE, an organization hell-bent on turning everyone into orange juice, is non-fiction.
