so apparently the problem was minor but fundamental xD
i used javascript to compile arrays of my local file names to save me manually going through >200 files individually and it did so alphabetically but handled numbers SLIGHTLY differently than i thought (1 2 3 30 31 4 5 etc., instead of 1 2 3 4 5 30 31) and this confused everything horribly.
also you can now safely resize the page without screwing up things!!!!!!!
