I think The Employees does keep a certain wall between you and the story at all times. I personally liked the blindfolding effect it has on you as a reader, but it does feel weird to read a book that is actively putting up resistance against you getting into the setting and characters like that, so I get your POV completely. It also felt like something you should reread to really get into, which is a trait I like.
I will say, despite loooving a log structure, the different characters felt like they had the same "voice", which didn't rule when everything else is already so oblique. That is what I thought about the book.
On a more general note here, I really like your book reviews, they manage to make me intrigued about the books without revealing much at all. ALso I love that you just straight up do not like some books and say so.
Thank u Manul <3 Yes I felt the same about all the characters sounding the same! I also thought the "dialogue" didn't come off as if they were speaking but more like they were writing? Like people don't really talk that way? I'm glad u like the reviews, sometimes I feel foolish making them so simple
