I forgot who originally said it since I initially missed it, but thank you to whoever said Vivaldi has a built-in adblocker too. I can now leave Brave with peace-of-mind knowing that my browser will still be blocking ads when Manifest V2 support inevitably gets phased out and breaks uBlock Origin. (I really need a Chrome-based browser unfortunately. Also I tried Ungoogled Chromium but it kept breaking some sites)

Evolution, free will and creativity seem to be central to the universe. Everything gets shaped like networks with few big centers and many smaller outskirts, both when it comes to stars, solar systems, cities, companies & ideas. The big centers get bigger (they become the first choice for people to move to when they don't have a better idea), but they never completely take over. Something counteracts the monopoly.

Power laws and the Pareti principle imply stuff like "20% of the causes stand behind 80% of the effects", but what people miss is that this not only means "focus on the small part that actually makes a difference", but also that the other 20% are the small but many random creative deviations that together counteract the "monopoly" of the most powerful 20%.

Without those many small random deviations we wouldn't have a more interesting world than a small single dense point, everything centered, like at the big bang. The 20% of your ideas that make 80% of the difference, originally came from the other 80% of your ideas that together don't make a big difference, but sometimes have one small idea that revolutionizes and takes over the previous power center.

There's a limit to how big a star can be and still maintain itself, self goes for cities and living organisms. Big companies get tired, slow and bureaucratic. The power center naturally loses its power, and so do your most well-proven ideas if you don't embrace change.

As long as we have both big and small companies together in the same system, it mirrors the universe we live in. We wouldn't want a world with everything centered at one point, and we wouldn't want an evenly spaced out world either. We want variation, and we want a world where one big power center can do their thing in their way and the smaller outskirt can do what they do best.

I would like to retract my previous statement about wanting to pay for a browser. I have way too many thoughts about this topic that I wanna cram into this post but the tl;dr is that I'm worried about how free browsers are going to evolve (or run out of funding) over time

I would try Zen with uBlock Origin first, but if you're like me and need to use something Chrome-based for certain web apps that don't support Firefox, then Brave with all the crypto crap disabled is pretty much the only option

Should've mentioned why I feel chained to Brave- the Manifest V3 shit crippled uBlock on Chrome, so I just kinda lean on the custom adblocker inside Brave and hope for the best. I don't believe there's a Chrome fork that still supports Manifest V3

Many chromium browsers still support v2, including brave. I think ungoogled chromium should support it

When I'm having fun, I can write pretty fast. Awkward Conversations (easy format tbf) only took a few months. I just need to force myself to have fun against my will. I'm just sooooo laaaaazy π΄

iirc in Nosferatu, on top of it being randomized each time, you only have a limited amount of time to rescue everyone. PAINFUL. but SUCH a cool game.

I know someone who gave this show a 3/10. I've been told I've been harsh with my criticisms but maybe being sick softened my heart this time. I wouldn't buy any of the games shown on day 1 personally.
