Finally got around to finishing a small aesthetic update. Just created some "buttons" for categories on my links page. Please critique my HTML and CSS! Let me know if there was a smarter way to accomplish the same objective.

Buying even a tiny patch of land next to major cities in Poland is out of reach for people with regular salaries, sometimes even garages cost as much as the entire houses used to cost. In villages with reasonable distance by car to the middle sized cities it's quite common to build new houses, those are the only regions where single houses are being built. I know a bunch of people that made it within few years

For me, it'll take a decade or so to even consider buying a land, I'm a apartment dweller for many years to come :p

Also there are some proposals of laws that will allow to build limited sized houses (something like up to 70m2, one storey) without permits, but it's probably possible in municipalities without compehensive land planning, I dunno, it's still complicated

Not exactly what you're asking for, but my husband's family bought 5-10 acres of land and currently have three tiny house cabins placed there. They run on generators. We stay there sometimes. It's not bad, but the lack of plumbing is not my favorite lol

Whooaa, those rail car things look super fun! The closest one to me is sadly a few hours away in Iowa. But it looks really cool. I'm totally inspired to make it happen one of these days

So I happened to be thinking about AI mass-scraping the internet to feed hungry LLMs, and I suddenly wondered... is my Neocities page available for those monsters? After a little reading online, and testing a search on Duckduckgo, I discovered (a) yes it probably is available to AI and (b) it is also available for search engines. Supposedly this code prevents it

Your site is very interesting to me because I can relate so much to what you say. I too have always felt like a black sheep, and I have never found my place in the modern internet, which I now feel is too distant and artificial. I don't have any social media accounts, and I'm really nostalgic for the old web, for the days when the web was more genuine and magical. That's why I love Neocities, a little time portal!

Got a lovely message from theprophat in my guestbook. To answer your question, I've never owned a smartphone. Over the years I've gone through a few different dumbphones. I've used this Nokia phone for about a year now. The phone comes with some games (including Snake!). Before then, I used a cricket flip phone that sucked (had the KaiOS operating system - avoid if you can!) More info on my dumbphone tips page :)

One of the historical event that terrifies me was the dumping of tons of radioactive materials directly to Lake Karachay in 1950's, about 60km away from Chelyabinsk. It's worse than Chernobyl, but since it's too far away from Europe, no one noticed and no one made a HBO series about it. I mean, the whole carelessness of handling nuclear stuff during that era is shocking in today's perspecitve.
