[notes on sustainability, privacy and alternatives to mainstream social media]

Can we decrease our reliance on mainstream social media platforms?
Is there a different and more sustainable way to be online?
How can we tread more lightly on this planet?

Alternatives: that's what I'm interested in! As someone with a background in environmental studies and an interest in behaviour change, I like to test environmentally, privacy, and animal-friendly ways to consume, produce and enjoy life. I then document these micro-experiments in this section.

Often, these alternatives are nothing new; on the contrary, they were the norm as recently as 15 years ago before being discarded to embrace the new, shiniest object, product or service.

This website is itself a mini-experiment! I created it from scratch, starting with zero web design or coding knowledge. My goal was to self-build a personal online space instead of relying on ready-to-use blogging platforms and mainstream social media. You can read more about why I built a DIY website and how I did it.

AI policy: this website is a reaction to the perfectionist and performative nature of social media and the ubiquity of AI. No AI has been used to write content or to build the website, and I plan to keep it this way.
