A hand-painted platformer RPG
about a boy, a notebook,
and rules that overstay their welcome.
It's coming to PC, and the demo will be free.
This is Leander's room, and it's the only part
of the real world you'll ever get to see.
Nearly everything you walk through has been painted
on real paper by hand, then scanned in and cut apart
into something you can actually move through.
Even in his own world, Leander is cut out badly,
and you can still see the white edges where
the scissors went wrong... but who am I to say
that's a bad thing?
His college letter came, and he was accepted,
and for a while he just sat with it, waiting to feel
the way he thought he was supposed to feel.
... But nothing ever came, so he fell instead,
into somewhere that had been building itself
out of him for years, and had gotten good at it.
He probably wanted to leave, but...
nothing here was going to move for him
until he stopped walking around it.
...
And the gameplay?
GAMEPLAY
Two views
Most of the time you'll be looking down at him
from somewhere above, walking him through
room after room after room.
Then, without much warning, the camera will lower down...
and you'll find yourself standing beside him,
the floor having turned into something
you have to jump across.
Parkour
There is nothing here to fight, and even if there were,
nothing here wants anything from you.
You'll climb, and you'll fall, and you'll climb again,
and not one word will be spoken the whole way through,
not by the world, not by him, not once.
Well... except for one thing.
Rules
Every few rooms there'll be a sign standing somewhere
in your way, and written on every sign, a single rule.
Say, "Don't step on the cracks."
It's easy enough to write down, so you write it down
in the notebook, because you wouldn't want
to forget it, would you..?
Then the cracks begin changing size, and some of them
are painted over, and some of them fade away as you get
closer, until eventually there are none left at all,
and you still have to decide where it's safe to step.
The rule itself never really changes.
It's only ever a question of how far it stretches.
Break it, and you'll go back to wherever you last saved.
The Notebook
You'll get ten pages, front and back, and this is your
only tool, perhaps company too, if you'd like
to see it that way.
It pays attention to you, even if you don't like it.

Nothing you write here is saved or sent anywhere.
...
Sounds interesting, doesn't it?
You are in luck, then, because...
...
Well, there was a demo there, but...
I guess we'll have to make another one.
DEMO COMING SOON.
It'll be the first area, somewhere around forty-five
minutes long, and it won't cost you anything.
