the lanterns of july
went out after the rain and the whole field was lit from underneath. foxfire in the rotting fence‑posts, mushrooms holding little green lamps for no one. i sat with them for an hour and did not take a single photograph. some glowing things refuse to be captured; they only agree to be witnessed.
came home and rewrote the gallery page three times. the web should feel like that field — dark at the edges, alive in the middle.
